Acetylsalicylic acid is an analgesic and antipyretic. It’s most well known as the main ingredient of Aspirin. It’s through to be effective at preventing certain cancers. it’s an acetyl derivative of salicylic acid. ASA is stable when dry but in the presence of moisture, it hydrolyses to acetic acid and salicylic acid. It’s not easily soluble in the stomach’s acidic conditions, delaying absorption of larger doses.
